Australian Twelve Month Tourist Visa
Australian 12 month tourist visas allow non-Australian citizens to enter Australia for up to 12 months for tourism purposes. Once your visa has been issued, you have up to 12 months to enter Australia, and from your first entry you have a further 12 months to stay in Australia. This visa also allows multiple entry, so you may leave and re-enter Australia as many times as you like within the 12 month period.


Employment is strictly prohibited on an Australian 12 month tourist visa, and you may be required to prove you have sufficient funds for your stay in Australia (up to £5000).

You are not allowed to study on an Australian 12 month tourist visa for more than 3 months, and if you are wishing to study for more than 4 weeks you may also be required to undergo a chest x-ray examination.

How long does this visa take to process?
This visa usually takes from 2 – 5 weeks to process.

Will I be required to take a medical examination?
If you are under 70 years of age, you will usually not be requested to undergo any medicals, unless you have any medical conditions. Applicants over the age of 70 will require a visitor visa medical certificate 70-85, and a doctor’s report. Applicants over 70 may also be required to provide evidence they have sufficient health/travel insurance for the duration of their stay in Australia.

I am travelling with my child(ren) without their mother/father, does this matter?
Children travelling without both parents will require consent from the parent that is not travelling for their child to be out of the country.
